IMEX calls for entries for awards program that honors positive environmental practices in the meetings and incentive industry
By Jeanie Casison

A little effort to save the planet goes a long way, and IMEX is now accepting nominations for its 2009 Green Awards. The program is comprised of three different categories including the Commitment to Community Award, the Green Meetings Award and the IMEX Green Exhibitor Award. Presentation of the awards will take place during the international trade show's Gala Dinner in Frankfurt, Germany.

Since its inception, the IMEX Green Awards has prompted admirable efforts in the meetings and incentive industry, including enhanced recycling initiatives and demonstrated environmental improvements and savings. An independent judging panel made up of industry representatives and environmental experts will decide on all of the Green Award winners.

In addition to the Green Awards program, IMEX organizers have partnered with Messe Frankfurt to implement green innovations during the tradeshow. Best practices include the use of hydroelectric power, the reduction of waste resulting in the saving of 34 tons during the 2008 show and the introduction of biodegradable visitor badges.

IMEX is scheduled to take place May 26-28, 2009. More information and nomination forms for the 2009 IMEX Green Awards are available on www.imex-frankfurt.com.
